Halloween is right around the corner and it had me reminiscing about some of the fun ways we dressed up last year. Not only did we do our family costume (which was a blast to create) but the girls dressed up several times before Halloween for different parties and events. These Wizard of Oz costumes had to be one of our favorites.
We were running late to a halloween party one night and I had not prepared at all so I searched the girls closets to see what I could find.
I found these adorable tutus from iloveplum and thought…. Hmmmm these colors could totally work. That is were the idea started, just from the tutus, then I started to search my house for the other items to pull it all together. I love how the tutus give the costumes a girly look while also paying tribute to the characters.
I had a few items from years ago when Scott and I dressed up in Wizard of Oz pre kids and I am so glad I held on to it.
For Lucilles tin man costume I spray painted a funnel I had laying around. I never used it anyway so why not use it for a costume ;) I cut out a paper heart and borrowed a toy ax and that was it.
Ediths ears, tail and bowtie were part of a set we purchased and I just added a little red bow to give it a feminine touch.
Hazel had dressed up as a scarecrow before so we used the same set to finish off her look.
And there you have it, our little girls wizard of oz costumes. Our take on the scarecrow, tin man and cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz. These were such a fun costume to put together and I am happy to say they were the hit of the halloween party.
Have you dressed as the characters from Wizard of Oz? I would love to hear about it in the comments below.
